So I picked out a bottle of Ring Bold Cabernet (Margaret River). Don't know if what he was telling me was close to the truth but that's the story I got.

He said you can buy really good full bodied Oz reds for a lot of money but that the 15-35$ Australian wines would be on the sweet side. He went on to say that you guys have the most advanced technology for producing wine at a fast rate.thus the wines are not aged as much as they are here in the US and that most are very ripe when bottled. The wine guy was telling me that all of Australian wines tend to be on the sweet side. I did not know that Layer Cake was from Oz.BTW I did not like Layer Cake when I tried it a year ago.too sweet! I hate sweet wines.

OK went to a pretty large Whole Foods in Cupertino on my way home from work and checked out the Australian wines. Should get down to tassie for some wine/cheese adventures. I've been having a lot of Red Hill (Vic) Pinot's ~ T'Gallant & previously mentioned Paringa Estate. Great suggestsions ~ also heard the Pinot Noirs are great in Tassie. heard its almost the perfect climte for that grape. Im curious about Pinot Noirs from Tassie. Another gorgeous locale for wine tasting (though). Kangaroo Island has a few wineries that I've tried and liked the wines, but not as much as the Vale. Limestone Coast i've never checked out any wineries. But generally I flew to Mel so did not get to go more often. Reislings and Roses are lovely on hot days.Ĭoonawara only twice as well, I stopped on my way to Victoria (when I drove). I've hit Clare Valley twice, we did the Reisling Trail on bikes. Then we'd go to Hahndorf for German food and beer. I took a sip and said S + S 2006 Sauv Blanc. I once had lunch with a mate and she asked if I knew the wine. Nothing brings you closer to co-workers than too much grog!Īdelaide Hills.

I figured anyone who drove in Pakistan can drive country Australia!īarossa I've only been 6-10 times. I got to know dozens of wineries in the Vale. I went grape grazing once a month for years! Mostly in the McClaren Vale as I was only 35 minutes away and my friend who did the driving knew the roads. How can one not go grape grazing when one loves wine and lives close to so many good wine regions?
